Engaging for Tomorrow
Villagers Judy Hollowell and Riki Twist, plus Board members Susan Meadows, Jan Quilici, Kathy Steel-Sabo and Iris Nicholson attended the Expand-Empower-EngAGE 2024 National Virtual Village Gathering of the Village to Village Network ( vtvnetwork.org). The agenda was brimming with presentations and peer-to-peer sharing.
- Judy Hollowell and Kathy Steel-Sabo were impressed by the session on "Stronger Memory," a daily, thirty-minute curriculum for improving brain health.
- Susan Meadows wants to use the question “When do you feel most alive?” from the End-of-Life Discussions: A Valuable Part of Vibrant Villages workshop for a future GNV Members’ Social.
- Several of the group found the “Saving Claire Fall Prevention Project” an effective documentary that we hope comes to our community. It was written, produced and acted by older adults for older adults.
Insights from attending the conference confirmed that your Board of Directors’ vision for the next five years is aligned with best practices for sustainable aging implemented in Villages across the country.
Conference speakers emphasized that Villages thrive when each and every member creates social connections with and provides practical support to one another. As outlined in the GNV Organization document, there are fulfilling opportunities for every Villager to engage in and to derive great satisfaction from creating the next phase of GNV.
