American Dirt

Villager Ann Halligan will lead the discussion of Jeanine Cummins' compelling novel American Dirt.  This controversial book tells the extraordinarily powerful story of Lydia and Luca, the wife and young son of a murdered journalist from Acapulco, who are forced to make an agonizing journey to the U.S. in an effort to evade the long reach of a brutal drug cartel.  The No. 1 New York Times bestseller is "a heart-pounding, page-turning, can't-put-it-down, stay-up-till three a.m., adrenaline-pumping story...that examines, with sensitivity, care and complexity of thought, immense, soul-obliterating trauma and its aftermath" (Time).

Attendees are encouraged to bring some suggestions for future book choices.  Masks must be worn at indoor meetings.
