"The Wide Wide Sea: Imperial Ambition"

About this event

The Wide Wide Sea: Imperial AmbitionThe next meeting will be April 18, 2025 at the home of Patrice Varga, 487 Hillview Dr. We will be discussing The Wide Wide Sea: Imperial Ambition, First Contact and the Fateful Final Voyage of Captain James Cook by Hampton Sides.

This history tracks the 18th-century English naval officer James Cook’s third and final voyage across the globe, painting a vivid and propulsive portrait that blends generations of scholarship with the firsthand accounts of European seafarers as well as the oral traditions of Indigenous Pacific islanders.

Beth Rasler will start off our discussion.  Please prepare at least one question to keep the conversation going.

Banter Books in downtown Fremont offers a 15% discount on this book if you mention your affiliation with GNV at the checkout. The book is on the longish side, so you might want to get an early start.
