| | | | A group of 15 Villagers enjoyed a wonderful visit to the Washington Township Museum of Local History, where we took an engaging journey through our community’s past. Our guide, Barbara Baxter, shared vivid and fascinating stories that brought local history to life, sparking both nostalgia and curiosity among the group.
The visit highlighted the rich history of the Tri-City area, from the Mission and Rancho eras through the pre-incorporation days—when Fremont, Newark, and Union City were made up of farms, ranches, and dairies. We also learned about the transition to incorporated cities and the growth of the suburban neighborhoods we know today.
Hearing how generations of families lived and worked here gave us a deeper appreciation for the strong, small-town spirit that still shapes the community. It was a meaningful experience that left us feeling more connected to the area’s past.
After the tour, smaller groups gathered at nearby restaurants to continue the conversation and enjoy lunch together.
