Annual Meeting
Our Annual Meeting was a wonderful evening of connection, conversation, and celebration! With the theme Connected, Active, Thriving!, we enjoyed reflecting on the many activities Villagers shared throughout the year and exchanging ideas for GNV’s future. We were delighted to hear so many voices and perspectives.

A special thanks to Mercel Amin, Sr. Program Coordinator for the City of Fremont’s Aging and Family Services for sharing her knowledge in helping us all be active and thriving!

We were especially pleased to welcome friends and neighbors who joined us and had the opportunity to learn more about GNV. Thank you to everyone who helped make the evening such a warm, enjoyable, and successful event!

Finding the Right Help at the Right Time
Saturday, October 10, 2026
10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Location: Niles Discovery Church
36600 Niles Blvd.
Fremont, CA 94536

Figuring out what kind of care you or a loved one may need -- and where to find it -- can be confusing and stressful, particularly when the need comes suddenly. Please join us for an informative presentation that will give you a place to start when the need arises. Our speaker Jacob Sytsma, manager of Alameda Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP), will explain the important differences between Home Health Care and Home Care, what services each provides, and when each type of care may be appropriate.

Whether you’re planning ahead for yourself, helping a loved one, or simply want to better understand your options, this is a great opportunity to learn what resources are available and where to turn when help is needed.

This event is open to the public, so please bring a friend and spread the word.

CAPS 2026 Training Event
October 27, 12:30pm - 4:00pm
October  28, 9:00am- 12:00noon
Greater Niles Village is looking for volunteers to participate in the City of Fremont’s Community Ambassador Program for Seniors (CAPS) 2026 training event.

CAPS is a unique civic partnership between the City of Fremont Human Services Department and local civic, cultural, faith, and neighborhood organizations that are committed to promoting the well-being of older adults. The program brings volunteers together with health and service experts to learn about resources that can benefit older adults in our community.

The annual training is followed by monthly presentations that continue to provide volunteers with useful, current information and help build their capacity to connect older adults with valuable community resources.

Greater Niles Village has participated in CAPS since GNV opened. Currently, Villagers Roger Marshall and Iris Nicholson serve as GNV CAPS participants.

Interested in becoming a GNV CAPS volunteer?
