Radiation, Nuclear Power & You

- with Ron Adamson

Climate change is an issue affecting all of us now and in the future. Partially driven by emissions of carbon into our atmosphere by traditional sources of electrical power (coal, oil, natural gas), climate change can be reduced by more “green” power sources (wind, solar, nuclear). Nuclear power has zero carbon emissions but many fear it because of real or imagined releases of radiation to the public. This presentation attempts to explain what radiation is, how it affects us all, how it is related to nuclear reactor accidents and to nuclear power itself. Please come with questions of all kinds!

Ron Adamson is a long-time resident of Niles. He has graduate degrees in Nuclear and Metallurgical Engineering, and has spent his professional career conducting research in areas leading to the safety and efficiency of commercial nuclear power.
