Advocating for Health in Elderhood
About this event

Greater Niles Village (GNV) is convening regularly-scheduled Gatherings, on-line with Zoom, that will transition to in-person activities when it’s safe. GNV’s Gatherings are interactive, interesting and engaging. The Gatherings are open to all but require registration. Please let us know if there’s a speaker or a topic you’d like included.
Our gathering begins as we watch Embracing Elderhood as a Stage of Life, a Ted Talk by Louise Aronson. Louise Aronson, MD MFA, is a leading geriatrician, writer, educator, professor of medicine at UCSF and the author of the New York Times bestseller and Pulitzer Prize finalist Elderhood: Redefining Aging, Transforming Medicine, and Reimagining Life.
Our guest speakers from Palo Alto Medical Foundation, Dr Sandra Wong, DO, and Dr Shubhada Kulkarni, Geriatrician, will offer practical guidance to recognize and work around ageism when seeking health care. Successfully navigating the US healthcare system presents unique challenges for elders and their caregivers. Learn how to be a health advocate for responsive care that addresses the particular needs and preferences of elders. There will be time for discussion and Q&A.
Videoconference information will be provided in an email once payment is received.
