"Demon Copperhead"

Villagers Richard Gelbard and Debbie Witter will lead the discussion of Barbara Kingsolver's
Demon Copperhead, a take-off (and more!) on Charles Dickens' David Copperfield. Set in modern-day Appalachia, the novel is termed a "riveting, epic tale" by the Christian Science Monitor and, not surprisingly, given the author, brings to the fore an array of societal ills, from crushing poverty to the frayed social network to the opioid crisis. All served up with a memorable cast of characters, helmed by protagonist Damon Fields.
Remember that if you purchase the book at Banter Book Shop in downtown Fremont and mention your membership in the group, you will receive a 15% discount on it. Hope to see you there!
Location: Home of Nancy Eddy, 36707 Montecito. Masks are required.
