GNV On-line Gathering
Maintaining Resilience during the Pandemic
August 12, 1:00 - 2:30 pm

This will be a Zoom meeting, and your meeting ID will be sent as soon as you register.
 
ResilienceExplore proven ways to maintain your health and well-being during these times of pandemic. Frishta will define resilience and why it is important. She will review research-based strategies for building resilience: developing optimism, hope, positivity, gratitude and appreciation.

Frishta Sharifi is a Counselor for the Family Caregiving Support Program of Human Services Department, City of Fremont. Frishta holds a Master of Science degree in Counseling with emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy and Professional Clinical Counseling. She is trained as a Certified Compassion Cultivation (CCT) Teacher through Stanford University School of Medicine’s Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE). In addition to counseling, she is interested in women’s emotional memory and in cross–cultural research on emotional memory and how emotional memory changes across lifespan. Her emotional memory research work has been published in the Journal of Integrated Social Science, Psychology, and Journal of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences.

GATHERINGS

Greater Niles Village (GNV) is convening regular Gatherings, on-line with Zoom, that will transition to in-person activities when it’s safe. GNV’s Gatherings are designed to be interactive, interesting and engaging. Some Gatherings will be discussions, others parties or workshops.  Open to all members of the community, the GNV Gatherings will be a time for GNV members to connect and to introduce newcomers to Greater Niles Village.
 
Beginning in August, the Gathering schedule is
  • daytimes on the second Wednesday of the month from 1:00 - 2:30 pm
  • evenings on the fourth Wednesday of the month from 7:00 - 8:30 pm.

August 26, 7:00 - 8:30 pm: 4 Steps to Emergency Preparedness
 
Adults 60+ are among the most vulnerable when disaster strikes. That’s why it’s critical that adults 60+, and those who care for them, take steps to be better prepared. Karen Grimsich from the City of Fremont will lead this online workshop that will help you follow through with 4 Emergency Preparedness Steps.  Everyone who registers will receive a workbook and the Zoom meeting ID.
